Kerry Claxton was born into a Kentucky bluegrass family. She has fond memories of her Grandma sawing on the fiddle as her Dad and her Grandpa strummed the guitar. She picked up the guitar in her early teens, but at the age of 20, she heard Dave Grisman play the mandolin, and she was hooked.

Kerry went on to play in several bluegrass bands including; Mountain Standard Time, Shades of Bluegrass, Homemade Jam, Turning Point, and the Coal Creek Bluegrass Band.

A gifted player and award winning composer, she released her first cd, “Reel Dreams” in 1997. Combining exceptional vocals and crisp, musical, high energy mandolin, Kerry’s love of bluegrass is reflected in every song she plays.
